Our Team

Mark Rome

Branch Manager

Mark was born and grew up in Denver and is the oldest of 3 kids. He moved to Kansas in 1993 to attend the University of Kansas and move to Kansas City after graduating with a degree in Accounting and Business. He started in the mortgage business in 1999 and has helped over 2,000 families with their mortgage needs.

In 2005 Mark and his partners started Kansas City Mortgage Group and grew the company until 2012 when they sold it to Cornerstone Home Lending. Mark ran the Kansas City area for Cornerstone from 2012-2018, then joined Fairway in 2018 as a branch manager.

Mark spends most of his time managing his direct team to help clients and realtors with their mortgages and business growth. He also manages the full branch of 30 people, including 11 other loan officers.

His favorite part is helping his clients maximize the mortgage expense. “most people’s largest lifetime expense will be their mortgage expenses. They will typically pay well into the 6 figures over a lifetime. I love counseling people on how to make the largest expense of their life as optimal as possible.”

Mark was married in 2006 to Julie and they have 3 awesome kids. Molly, Charlie and Annie. He is an active member of Cure of Ars church and school. He spends his free time playing golf, traveling with his family, attending his kids activities, and watching his favorite sports teams whenever he can. Go Jayhawks, Royals, and Broncos!!! (please don’t hate him for the Broncos love.)

Andrew Cunard

Andrew loves working with the close-knit team we have built here at Fairway at Corporate Woods. He is passionate about helping clients navigate the ins and outs of the ever-changing mortgage world and making what can be a stressful experience as easy as possible.

After growing up in Kansas and attending Shawnee Mission School, Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Wartburg College in Waverly. He returned to Kansas City where he recently completed his Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University while working with the Rome Team. He has been in the mortgage industry for over 8 years and is highly organized, detail-oriented and focused on superior custom service.

When not assisting clients with their home purchase, Andrew shares his love of music and his amazing voice with audience members as he performs with Te Deum Chamber Choir and at his church, Atonement Lutheran Church. He is also a phenomenal chef and enjoys playing soccer.

Nomi Smith

Nomi’s story starts in Mongolia and is as inspirational as it is interesting. She knew she wanted to attend college in the States, but with not way to write a check for the application fee, she started with an alphabetical list of school that did not require a fee to apply. She applied and was accepted to Avila University here in Kansas and received her Bachelors and MBA.

After graduation she began her career in the banking industry where she excelled for 6 years. She was so good, that she impressed one of her customers so much, he asked her to come work for his team. Mark was very convincing and she joined the Rome Team in 2017.

Nomi’s desire to serve her clients is also inspirational. Persevering through her own challenges and obstacles has taught Nomi that nothing is impossible and she uses this to encourage her clients and guide them through challenges that may be holding them back from owning a home. She is patient and has a depth of knowledge that allows her to educated and advise the clients to make the best decision for their financial goals.

She has been in Kansas now 11 year and enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan, in the home they own and have worked to fix-up and make their own. Her darling daughters Heidi and Presley and dogs Mojo and Elvis ensure there is never a dull moment. She is constantly working to build a better life for all her family by bringing from Mongolia to the States.

Jennifer Rome

There is no place like home!  There is no place like home!  There is no place like home!  I know, cliché, right?  But this is exactly what Kansas City is to Jennifer.  Jennifer was born and raised in Overland Park and now resides in Lenexa and cannot imagine living anywhere else (except maybe in January in February…a beach always sounds nice that time of year).  

And Jennifer’s home away from home is Fairway Independent Mortgage and The Rome Team.  According to Jennifer, “It is a gift to spend every day working alongside the best in the industry and most importantly, working alongside clients as they make goals to purchase their dream home.” 

Jennifer brings considerable professional experience with her.  Prior to joining Fairway and The Rome Team, Jennifer served in corporate roles for 13 years and as a dental hygienist for 9 years prior to that.  She holds a degree in applied science and bachelors in business and is a few hours shy of a master’s degree.  Her unique blend of professional experience offers clients with a very personal experience under Jennifer’s lead.

Jennifer is also passionate about causes including but not limited to: supporting the unique learning needs of exceptional children, domestic abuse survivors, breast cancer survivors. 


Besides playing mom to two strapping young lads, Jennifer lives each day fully and with gratitude.  She spends time with her dog, Theo, volunteers, takes on home projects, and focuses on a healthy lifestyle.  And if she is missing in action, she is likely adventuring with her boys (i.e. zip lining, escape rooms, laser tag, ax throwing, etc.) or lost in a creative photography project.
